Rugs For Living Room – Over 12 years ago we purchased our first family home in the City of Robin Hood Nottingham. As money was tight be extremely creative and we had to stretch our funds. This included using our tub panel that was old as part of the dcor from the room.
Challenge that is interesting and like doesn’t it? Well here is how it all came about.
The home we purchased is in a really suburb of the city. My partner and I had awakened moving to this area and decided to purchase the best home we can afford in the place. I guess we’d taken to heart the mantra location, location, location’.
Because of this we ended up using a that demanded massive renovation. In our home all of the floor planks and joists where rotten, the windows needed shifting plus we needed gas, electrical and heating services. The backyard was Jurassic although it did have a few fantastic rose bushes in looking. Overall we had taken on a huge money.
Not to be discouraged we set about turning our project. One of the aspects of the home was the features of the original 1930. This included fantastic internal doors which we have stripped professionally along with some genuinely nice original cast iron fireplaces.
A characteristic that was central was created by the fireplaces in both the dining and living room areas. Both fireplaces needed some serious work and desperately needed restoring.
We utilized chemicals scorch marks and to strip off the soot themselves. Then we maintained the total appearance and removed and replaced the wooden surrounds with types which had a rustic texture.
The challenge came when we removed the hearth in our space. Replacing this seemed to be really difficult. We did not have a lot of money which limited our selection of tiles that are fresh. In fact we ended up searching at heaps of tile swatches in the budget ranges which whilst did not fit in with the whole theme of the room.
It was then that I had an inspired idea. A few days before we ripped out and replaced with our tub. In fact at this stage it was sitting taken down to the dump and on our driveway waiting to be loaded to a jump. My partner had remarked about the beautiful marble panel and also how it was a shame. Make down it to be utilized as our new fire hearth and my thought was to take this.
Finding a rock mason only took a glance through a few calls and a business directory. I am happy we discovered a professional as not only did he cut it to size but also offered us advice on the best way to care for a new fire hearth that is cherished.
We installed it quickly using cement to hold it. I took a visit and then purchased some fitting mosaic tiles to go round the edge of the flame itself.
The final result is outstanding and even to this day we find guests to our home commenting on the feature fireplace in our room. Needless to say they are always amazed when we are clean and explain our resourceful use of our tub panel.
