Living Room Wall Decor Ideas – We purchased our first family home in the City of Robin Hood Nottingham. As money was tight we had to extend our funds and be tremendously creative. This included using our bath panel as part of the dcor in the front room.
Challenge that is interesting and sounds like doesn’t it? Well here is how it came about.
Is in a really suburb of town. My partner and I had awakened moving to the area and opted to purchase the best home we could manage in the area. I guess we had taken to heart the mantra location, location’.
Because of this we ended up with a real fixer-upper that demanded massive renovation. In our house of the floor boards and joists where rotten, the windows had shifting plus we had gas electric and heating services. The backyard was somewhat Jurassic although it did have a few fantastic rose bushes in looking. In all we had all taken on a huge cash.
Not to be discouraged about turning our job into a 15, we set. One of the appealing aspects of the home was all the features of of the original 1930. This comprised fantastic internal doors which we have stripped along with some first cast iron fireplaces.
The fireplaces produced a central feature . Both fireplaces needed restoring and had some work.
We used chemicals scorch marks and to strip off of the soot themselves. Then we replaced and eliminated the surrounds with new ones which had a rustic feel and preserved the overall appearance.
The challenge came when we eliminated the hearth in our room. Replacing this appeared to be really hard. We did not have a lot of money which restricted our choice of tiles. Actually we ended up searching from the budget ranges which whilst fine did not fit in with the theme of the room at dozens of tile swatches.
It was then that I had an idea. A few days before we ripped out and replaced our old bath. Actually at this point it sat taken down to the dump and on our driveway waiting to be loaded into a skip. My partner had remarked about the black marble panel that is beautiful and also how it was a shame. My idea was to take this and get it cut down to be used as our new fire hearth.
Chancing upon a rock mason just took a glance through a few calls and a business directory. I am glad we found that a professional as not only did he cut it to size but also offered us advice on the best way best to take care of a new fire hearth.
We installed it quickly using cement to hold it in position. I purchased some matching mosaic tiles to go round the border of the flame and then then took a visit itself.
The final result is exceptional and we locate guests to our home commenting on the beautiful feature fireplace in our room. Obviously they are amazed when we are clean and explain our resourceful use of our tub panel.
