Living Room Furniture Set – Over 12 years ago we bought our first family house in the legendary City of Robin Hood Nottingham. As money was tight be creative and we had to extend our funds. This included utilizing our bath panel that was old as part of this dcor from the front room.
Challenge doesn’t it? Well here is how it came about.
Is in a leafy suburb of town. Both my partner and I had awakened moving to the area and opted to purchase the house we can afford in the area that was best. I guess we’d taken to heart the mantra location, location, location’.
As a result we ended up using a that demanded massive renovation. In our home the floor boards and joists where rotten, the windows had changing plus we had new gas electric and heating services. The backyard was Jurassic although it did have some fantastic rose bushes in looking. We had taken on a huge cash.
Not to be discouraged about turning our job into a 15, we set. One of the aspects of the house was the features of of the 1930. This included fantastic also and internal doors that we have stripped professionally some cast iron fireplaces.
The fireplaces created a feature that was central . Both fireplaces had some serious work and urgently needed restoring.
We used chemicals scorch marks in the flames and to strip off all the old soot themselves. Then we preserved the total look and replaced and removed the wooden surrounds with new types that had a rustic feel.
The challenge came when we removed the hearth in our space. Replacing this appeared to be hard. Firstly we did not have a lot of money which restricted our selection of tiles that are fresh. In fact we ended up looking at heaps of tile swatches in the budget ranges that whilst did not fit in with the whole theme of the room.
It was then that I had an idea that is inspired. A few days until we ripped out and replaced our old tub. In fact at this point it was sitting on our driveway waiting to be loaded into a skip and taken down to the dump. My partner had it was a shame and also remarked about the black marble panel that is lovely. Get it cut down to be used as our fire hearth and my thought was to take this.
Finding a stone mason just took a quick look through a small business directory and a few calls. I am happy we discovered a professional as not only did he cut it but also offered us advice about the best way best to take care of a fire hearth that is precious that is new.
We installed it using concrete to hold it in position. I then took a trip to our regional discount tile store and then bought some matching tiles to go round the border of the flame itself.
The final result is outstanding and even to this day we find guests to our house commenting on the lovely feature fireplace in our front room. Needless to say they are always amazed when we come clean and explain our use of our bath panel.
