Living Room Decorations – Just over 12 years ago we purchased our first family home in the City of Robin Hood Nottingham. Be tremendously inventive and we had to stretch our funds as cash was tight. This included utilizing our bath panel that was previous as part of the dcor in room.
Challenge that is sounds like and intriguing does not it? Well here is how it came about.
Is at a really suburb of the city. My partner and I had stepped up moving to the area and decided to purchase the home we can afford in the area. I guess we’d taken to heart the mantra location, location’.
As a result we ended up with a that required renovation. In joists where rotten and our new home all the floor boards, the windows needed shifting plus we needed electrical, gas and heating solutions. The garden was Jurassic although it did have a few rose bushes in, looking. In all we’d all taken on a massive cash.
Not to be discouraged about turning our project into a home we set. One of the attractive aspects of the home was all of the 1930’s features. This comprised fantastic also and internal doors which we have stripped professionally some original cast iron fireplaces.
The fireplaces created a feature that was central . Nevertheless both fireplaces needed some serious work and needed restoring.
We utilized chemicals to strip the soot that was old and scorch marks from the flames themselves. Then the wooden surrounds were removed and replaced by us with new types which had a texture and maintained that the appearance.
The challenge came when we removed the hearth in our room. Replacing this appeared to be difficult. We did not have cash which limited our choice of tiles that are fresh. In fact we ended up searching from the budget ranges which whilst did not fit in with the entire theme of the room at dozens of tile swatches.
It was then that I had an idea. A couple of days until we replaced with our bath and ripped out. In fact at this point it sat taken down to the dump and on our driveway waiting to be loaded into a jump. My partner had remarked about the lovely black marble panel and the way it was a shame. My idea was to take this and make it cut down to be utilized as our fire hearth.
Chancing upon a rock mason only took a quick look through a couple of calls and a business directory. I’m happy we discovered that a specialist as not only did it cuts to size but also provided us advice about how best to care for a fire hearth that is precious that is new.
We installed it quickly using cement to hold it. I took a visit to our local discount tile store and purchased some mosaic tiles to go around the edge of the fire itself.
The end result is outstanding and we find guests to our home commenting on the lovely feature fireplace in our front room. Obviously they are constantly amazed when we come clean and clarify our use of the bath panel.
