Living Room Decoration Ideas – Over 12 years ago we bought our first family house in the City of Robin Hood Nottingham. As cash was tight be inventive and we had to extend our budgets. This included using our bath panel that was previous as part of the dcor in the room.
Intriguing and sounds like challenge doesn’t it? Well here is how it came about.
The house we bought is at a very suburb of the city. My partner and I had stepped up moving to this area and decided to buy the house we can afford in the best place. I guess we’d taken to heart the mantra location, location, location’.
As a result we ended up using a that required massive renovation. In joists where rotten and our house all of the floor boards, the windows needed shifting plus we needed gas electric and heating solutions. The garden was marginally Jurassic though it did have some rose bushes in, looking. In all we’d all taken on a cash draining job.
Not to be discouraged we set about turning our newly acquired project into a house. One of the appealing aspects of the house was of the 1930’s features. This included fantastic internal doors which we have stripped along with some really nice cast iron fireplaces.
A feature that was central was actually created by the fireplaces . Both fireplaces needed some work and needed restoring.
We utilized particular chemicals scorch marks in the flames and to strip of the soot themselves. Then we replaced and removed the surrounds with types which had a texture and maintained the overall appearance.
The challenge came after we removed the hearth in our room. Replacing this seemed to be really hard. Primarily we didn’t have much cash which restricted our choice of tiles that are fresh. Actually we ended up searching from the budget ranges which whilst didn’t fit in with the theme of the room.
It was then that I had an idea. A few days until we ripped out and replaced with our bath from the family room bathroom. Actually at this point it sat on our driveway waiting to be loaded to a skip and taken down to the dump. My partner had commented about the lovely marble panel and also it was a shame. Make down it to be utilized as our new fire hearth and my idea was to take this.
Chancing upon a stone mason took a quick look through a local business directory and a few calls. I’m happy we found that a specialist as not only did it cuts but also provided us advice about how best to take care of a new fire hearth that is cherished.
We installed it using concrete to hold it in position. I took a visit and bought some mosaic tiles to go round the edge of the fire itself.
The end result is exceptional and we find guests to our house commenting on the beautiful feature fireplace in our room. Obviously they are amazed when we are clean and clarify our use of our bath panel.
