Decoration For Living Room – Just over 12 years ago we purchased our first family home in the mythical City of Robin Hood Nottingham. We had to extend our funds and be creative as cash was tight. This included utilizing our tub panel that was previous as part of this dcor from the front room.
Challenge that is intriguing and like doesn’t it? Well here is how it all came about.
Is at a leafy suburb of the city. Both my spouse and I had awakened moving to the area and decided to buy the best house we could manage in the area. I guess we’d taken to heart the mantra location, location’.
Because of this we ended up using a actual fixer-upper that demanded renovation. In our home all of the floor planks and joists where rotten, the windows had shifting plus we had new gas, electric and heating services. The garden was somewhat Jurassic looking although it did have a few rose bushes in. In all we’d all taken on a cash draining job.
Not to be discouraged about turning our newly acquired project into a 15, we set. One of the attractive facets of the house was all of the 1930’s features. This included fantastic internal doors that we have stripped professionally and also some first cast iron fireplaces.
A central characteristic was created by the fireplaces . However both fireplaces needed restoring and had some work.
We used special chemicals scorch marks in the fires and to strip off the old soot themselves. Then we eliminated and replaced the surrounds with ones that had a texture and preserved that the appearance.
The challenge came when we eliminated the hearth in our room. Replacing this seemed to be really hard. We did not have a lot of cash which limited our choice of tiles. In fact we ended up looking in the budget ranges that whilst nice did not fit in with the entire theme of the room at heaps of tile swatches.
It was then that I had an idea that is inspired. A couple of days before we ripped out and replaced with our bath. In fact at this point it sat on our driveway waiting to be loaded to a skip and taken down to the dump. My spouse had remarked about the beautiful marble panel and also the way it was a shame to ditch it. Make it cut down to be used as our new fire hearth and my thought was to take this.
Finding a rock mason took a glance through a couple of calls and a local business directory. I am glad we found a specialist as not only did he cut it but also offered us guidance about the best way best to care for a new precious fire hearth.
We installed it quickly using concrete to hold it in place. I purchased some matching tiles to go round the border of the fire and took a trip itself.
The final result is exceptional and even to this day we locate guests to our home commenting on the beautiful feature fireplace in our front room. Obviously they are constantly amazed when we come clean and clarify our use of our tub panel.
