Bobs Furniture Living Room Sets – Just over 12 years ago we bought our first family house in the City of Robin Hood Nottingham. As money was tight be extremely creative and we needed to extend our funds. This included using our tub panel as part of this dcor in the front room.
Challenge does not it? Well here is how it all came about.
Is in a very leafy suburb of the city. My partner and I had stepped up moving to this area and decided to purchase the best house we can manage in the place. I guess we had taken to heart the mantra location, location’.
Because of this we ended up with a that required renovation. In our new house of the floor boards and joists where rotten, the windows needed changing plus we needed new gas electrical and heating solutions. The garden was Jurassic looking though it did have a few rose bushes in. We had taken on a money draining job.
Not to be discouraged about turning our recently acquired project into a house we set. One of the facets of the house was the 1930’s features. This comprised fantastic internal doors which we got stripped along with some genuinely nice first cast iron fireplaces.
A characteristic that was central was produced by the fireplaces in the dining and living room areas. However both fireplaces needed some job and desperately needed restoring.
We utilized chemicals to strip off of the older soot and scorch marks from the fires themselves. Then we preserved that the total look and eliminated and replaced the surrounds with types which had a rustic feel.
The challenge came when we eliminated the hearth in our living room. Replacing this appeared to be really difficult. Primarily we did not have much money which limited our selection of tiles. In fact we ended up looking from the budget ranges which whilst fine did not fit in with the theme of the room.
It was then that I had an inspired idea. A couple of days before we ripped out and replaced with our tub. In fact at this stage it was sitting taken down to the dump and on our drive waiting to be loaded to a skip. My partner had commented about the black marble panel that is beautiful and it was a shame. My thought was to take this and make it cut down to be utilized as our fire hearth.
Chancing upon a stone mason took a glance through a small business directory and a couple of calls. I am happy we discovered a professional as not only did he cut it to size but also offered us guidance on how best to care for a fire hearth that is cherished that is new.
We installed it using cement to hold it in place. I then took a visit and bought some matching tiles to go round the border of the fire itself.
The final result is exceptional and even to this day we find guests to our house commenting on the beautiful feature fireplace in our room. Needless to say they are constantly amazed when we are clean and explain our use of our bath panel.
