Ashley Living Room Furniture – We bought our first family house in the City of Robin Hood Nottingham. As cash was tight be inventive and we had to stretch our funds. This included using our old tub panel as part of this dcor in the front room.
Interesting and like challenge doesn’t it? Well here is how it came about.
The house we bought is at a leafy suburb of town. Both my partner and I had stepped up moving to this area and decided to buy the best home we can afford in the best area. I guess we had taken to heart the mantra location, location, location’.
As a result we ended up with a actual fixer-upper that required renovation. In joists where rotten and our house of the floor planks, the windows had changing plus we had new gas, electric and heating services. The garden was Jurassic though it did have some rose bushes in, looking. In all we had all taken on a cash.
Not to be discouraged about turning our project into a 15, we set. One of the aspects of the home was all the features of the 1930. This included fantastic doors that we have stripped professionally and also some nice original cast iron fireplaces.
The fireplaces produced a characteristic in the living and dining room areas. Both fireplaces urgently needed restoring and had some job.
We utilized special chemicals to strip off of the soot that was older and scorch marks in the fires themselves. Then we preserved the look and replaced and eliminated the wooden surrounds with new ones that had a rustic feel.
The challenge came when we eliminated the hearth in our living space. Replacing this appeared to be really difficult. Firstly we did not have much cash which limited our selection of tiles. Actually we ended up looking in the budget ranges that whilst nice did not fit in with the whole theme of the room.
It was then that I had an idea that is inspired. A couple of days before we replaced with our tub from the family room bathroom and ripped out. Actually at this stage it was sitting on our drive waiting to be loaded to a skip and taken down to the dump. My partner had commented about the black marble panel that is beautiful and also the way it was a shame to dump it. Get down it to be utilized as our new fire hearth and my idea was to take this.
Chancing upon a rock mason just took a quick look through a neighborhood business directory and a couple of calls. I am happy we found that a professional as not only did it cuts to size but also provided us guidance on how best to take care of a new precious fire hearth.
We installed it using cement to hold it in place. I then took a trip and then bought some matching tiles to go round the border of the flame itself.
The end result is outstanding and even to this day we locate guests to our house commenting on the beautiful feature fireplace in our room. Obviously they are amazed when we are clean and clarify our use of our old tub panel.
